Fees
Clear fees, agreed in advance
Before any commitment, you know how my work will be paid for. The amount depends on the complexity of the case, the time it requires and its urgency.
A written fee agreement
Every engagement is covered by a fee agreement (convention d’honoraires) signed before work begins. It sets out what I will do for you, how fees are calculated, foreseeable expenses and payment terms. It is mandatory and it protects you.
During a first conversation, I explain what your situation involves and propose the most suitable fee arrangement.
Time spent
Fees reflect the time actually devoted to the case, based on an hourly rate set in the agreement. You receive a detailed statement.
Fixed fee
An overall amount, known from the outset, for a clearly defined engagement: drafting articles of association, divorce by mutual consent, a specific application.
Success fee
In addition to a fixed fee, a supplement may be agreed depending on the result obtained. French law prohibits fees based solely on the result.
My fees are not subject to VAT (Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code): the amount stated is the amount you pay.
Legal aid (aide juridictionnelle)
I accept legal aid cases. Depending on your income and assets, the French State covers all or part of the lawyer’s fees and the costs of proceedings. Legal aid can be granted in most proceedings: family, criminal, immigration, asylum.
- Check your eligibility: the French Ministry of Justice provides an official simulator (in French).
- Apply: online or using the paper form, with proof of income. I can help you prepare the application.
- Choose your lawyer: you can give my name in your application.
Your home, car or bank card insurance may include legal expenses cover (protection juridique). It can pay part of the fees: remember to check your policies.
